AVT achieves Health & Safety award

South Manchester based engineering consultancy, AV Technology, (AVT), has been awarded a four-star rating by the British Safety Council (BSC).

The BSC award is internationally recognised and is one of the most comprehensive, independent safety audits in the UK. Following a detailed evaluation, organisations are given a star rating, between zero and five, to indicate the effectiveness of their safety programmes.

This is the first time AVT has applied for the award, which allows them to benchmark the efficiency of their safety management systems and procedures against best practice processes.

The audit at AVT involved a review of the consultancy’s Health & Safety management systems, policies, procedures and activities in five key categories, involving a total of 57 elements.

Davina Reilly, AVT’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Manager led the application. “I thought that it was crucial, due to the nature of AVT’s work, that we perform to a recognised H & S standard. The audit has identified a number of strengths which I am delighted about, as well as some specific areas of improvement so it gives us a great foundation to build on.”

Steve Mottershead, AVT Managing Director said: “This is an excellent result for AVT, and demonstrates our commitment to improving safety performance across the company. I want to congratulate Davina Reilly on her hard work in driving this and her ongoing efforts to raise standards across the organisation and instilling a positive safety culture.”
