UK engineering consultancy, AV Technology (AVT), has strengthened its management team with the appointment of a new General Manager for its rapidly expanding Asset Management division.
Joe Barnes will be responsible for managing, coordinating and ensuring the consistent delivery of high quality maintenance and reliability consultancy/services to AVT’s expanding client base, especially in the offshore oil and gas sector.
In his new post, Joe will manage several key accounts including Shell Exploration and Production, Essar Energy (the UK’s second biggest refinery at Stanlow), Basell and others. He will initially focus on managing and growing AVT’s northern division, based in Aberdeen, by capitalising on the North Sea offshore energy industry. Joe’s remit will also include extending AVT’s talent and skills base to respond to the additional needs of the business.
Joe joins AVT from Artesis where he spent the last four years developing the market for a new and innovative product for the condition monitoring of motor driven systems. Prior to this he was a technical manager for a global fast moving consumer goods manufacturer, where he was involved with the roll-out of a major plant upgrade project and the continuous improvement of a section of several production lines, along with having overall responsibility for the plant reliability systems. Joe also spent four years with Wolfson Maintenance as a research engineer, during which time, he completed his doctorate in condition based maintenance.
On joining AVT, Joe said: “AVT is a strong player in the reliability engineering sector and has impressive credentials in asset management, structural integrity monitoring and condition based maintenance. I have experienced AVT’s professionalism and competence in the past and am looking forward to working with such a committed team. I intend to build upon existing successes with key accounts and to use this to leverage new opportunities. I will be pursuing an aggressive expansion of the Northern asset management business, with particular focus on the growth of the oil and gas business.”
AVT’s Managing Director, Steve Mottershead, said: “Joe’s appointment will enable us to continue to provide best service to clients while focusing on growing the business in the North where there are a wealth of opportunities in the gas and oil sectors. The appointment comes at a very positive time for us as we experience increasing demand across the markets we operate, and I am confident that Joe will contribute significantly to the continued success of the business.”
